Roland TR-1000
2 700.00 street price

The Roland TR-1000 represents a groundbreaking fusion of legendary analog circuitry and cutting-edge digital technology, designed to rewrite the rules of rhythm production. From foundational grooves to experimental soundscapes, this hybrid drum machine delivers a complete sonic palette for conceiving, creating, and performing with premium drum sounds across all electronic music genres.

Roland Analog, Reimagined

For the first time in over 40 years, Roland has introduced a true analog engine in a drum machine. The TR-1000 features 16 meticulously recreated circuits from the iconic TR-808 and TR-909, faithfully reproduced from original designs through detailed engineering and carefully selected modern components. This analog engine captures the authentic vintage soul of classic TR sound while expanding control possibilities with new parameters and a vastly extended dynamic range.

Advanced Digital Sound Engines

Complementing the analog foundation, the TR-1000 integrates powerful digital engines driven by Roland's latest modeling technology. The ACB (Analog Circuit Behavior) platform delivers detailed analog circuit emulations, including 21 circuit-bent 8X and 9X models derived from the 808 and 909. These voices feature quick-access parameters for live sound shaping and expanded controls that push sonic possibilities far beyond conventional analog limitations. Additional digital synthesis includes FM percussion, virtual analog synthesis, and an extensive PCM sample library for limitless sonic exploration and contemporary digital textures.

Comprehensive Sampling Capabilities

Classic TR instruments established the foundation for countless electronic music genres, and their influence deepened when combined with digital sampling. The TR-1000 fully integrates comprehensive sample tools into its workflow, including stereo sampling and resampling, BPM sync, seamless time-stretching, and non-destructive slice editing. The onboard 64 GB memory includes a curated collection of 2,000 samples, with 46 GB of free space for custom captures, edits, and sample imports.

Analog and Digital Effects Arsenal

The TR-1000 offers a rich palette of tactile effects for refining and transforming sounds. A new analog state-variable filter (SVF) inspired by classic Roland OTA designs provides organic tone-shaping. A dedicated analog drive circuit adds saturated punch and character. Digital effects include crusher, filter, isolator, saturator, pitch delay, flanger, and more. Each track features reverb and delay sends, while master effects provide additional coloration and movement to the overall mix.

Deep Sound Design Architecture

Powerful in-line processing enables the creation of distinctive and dynamic rhythms. Each track combines a model-specific sound generator, compressor, multimode filter/four-band EQ, and amp/envelope control. Four tracks support two independent sound generators that can be stacked or programmed separately, complete with per-track effects, internal sidechaining, output routing, and a three-target LFO for complex modulation possibilities.

Advanced Sequencer: From Locked to Loaded

The TR-1000's advanced sequencer expands the legendary TR workflow with enhanced feel and flexibility. Program sounds quickly, perform with intent, and shape rhythms in real-time using extensive pattern tools, expressive controls, and deep timing options. The sequencer makes programming feel alive, whether crafting tight techno patterns or exploring loose, lopsided grooves. Classic TR-REC step input, real-time recording, and new off-grid options allow you to push or pull the pocket. Flexible input modes and individual step nudging ensure grooves hit exactly right.

Dynamic Pattern Control

Intuitive tools enable programming of grooves that breathe and evolve with every pass. Motion recording captures live parameter changes for modulation and movement. Direction settings control track progression with options like forward, reverse, and pendulum. Cycle conditions determine when steps play, while per-step probability introduces variation and unpredictability.

Off-Grid Timing Freedom

The TR-1000 flows smoothly with your timing preferences, from machine-locked rhythms to grooves with human feel. Quantization keeps things tight when needed, or turn it off to capture natural rhythmic variations. Per-track shuffle applies distinct amounts of swing, and instant playback timing shifts create quick variations and new rhythmic feels.

Comprehensive Song Mode

Song mode introduces hands-free playback of complex arrangements, bringing unprecedented performance freedom to multi-instrumentalists, singers, and hybrid performers. Link patterns and variations in any order, repeat sections, and build complete tracks with ease.

Expressive Performance Features

Morph Slider

The new Morph slider adds another dimension of expression to the TR experience. Assignable to wide combinations of parameters, it enables wild macro control, smooth transitions, and radical transformations with simple movements. Unique Morph settings per pattern energize performances with color and dynamics.

Snapshot Feature

Program playable step buttons that instantly recall any knob position for an instrument. With up to 16 snapshots per track, switching sounds, effects settings, or mix levels happens with quick presses during creative workflow.

Professional Connectivity

Extensive I/O Options

The TR-1000 features a main stereo output, analog FX output, and ten jacks functioning as individual audio outputs or analog triggers for external gear. Dedicated trigger I/O, filter/CV input, and clock output support modular integration. A dual mono/stereo input enables sampling and processing external signals through TR effects. A front-panel headphone jack with dedicated level control ensures easy monitoring.

USB, MIDI, and Sync

The TR-1000 functions as a multi-channel USB-C audio/MIDI interface for seamless computer integration. The versatile USB device port supports flash drives for system updates, data backup/restore, and WAV audio import/export, plus USB MIDI controllers like the Roland A-49 or A-PRO series. Comprehensive MIDI I/O and DIN sync ensure compatibility with pre-MIDI synthesizers and drum machines, keeping your entire studio or live setup unified.

TR-1000 App

The companion TR-1000 App provides hardware control from your computer, featuring a large display for real-time parameter editing, a librarian for organizing your personal sound collection, and extended functionality.
